Public Art
What began as a desire to improve areas of buildings perceived as blank canvases has expanded and proven to be a defining characteristic of Crescent Communities, reinforcing our motto, “Build Community. Better People’s Lives.” We work closely with a national art curator to commission works that reflect the distinct personality of the neighborhood in which the project is located.
From Phoenix to Charlotte to Dallas, we work with local artists to transform otherwise blank walls, parking decks, or garages into vibrant, colorful creations that draw people in and make them want to be a part of our communities.

“Talent is Overrated” by Geoff Colvin was a game changing and timely book that I read in college. Most of us are equally capable of excelling academically, professionally, artistically, etc. There are no cheat codes for high performance (i.e., “talent”). Consistency and several thousand hours of “deliberate practice” are the universal formula for anyone to achieve great things.
WHO DO YOU MOST ADMIRE AND WHY?
My maternal grandparents (pictured) are among the many who inspire me. Their fortitude and ambition, despite difficult upbringings, allowed them to break toxic cycles and sow the seeds of a better life for my mom and, eventually, myself in this country.

Do What’s Right. Cheating, but another favorite quote is, “Work is love made visible.” It’s a simple sentence that resonates for me. Showing up fully—at work, at home, with family and with friends—requires dedication. To me, doing what’s right is a daily practice that begins internally and comes more naturally when you start living it.

Consider the Serenity Prayer. “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.” It’s 25 simple words that ask for comfort, strength and wisdom.

My mom. No matter what she is faced with, she is joyful, puts others first, and sees the beauty in life. She gives me a sense of peace from how she carries herself, no matter how fast-paced or heavy life can be.

My Grandfather, he lost both of his legs when he was 8 years old and never let it hold him back. He never complained, asked for handouts, or took no for an answer and through hard work was able to become the department chief at his firehouse.

Who do you most admire and why?
My Father told my siblings and I every day before school to “learn all you can and have fun”. This still resonates with me today because sometimes life comes at you fast but it’s important to step back and enjoy it.
What’s your secret superpower?
I’d have to say my superpower would be making friends in a room full of strangers.
