Garren is an adaptive reuse transformation of the former Bailey-Johnson School in Alpharetta and will comprise of three buildings totaling 160,000 square feet of space: the adaptive reuse of the Bailey-Johnson School building, the adaptive reuse of the school’s gymnasium, and a new three-story, 120,000 square foot mass timber building over one level of parking. An additional parking structure will be connected to the new building.
By combining the names of the Bailey-Johnson School’s founders, George Bailey and Warren Johnson, unity, collaboration, and transformation into the DNA of this unique property is honored. Garren, meaning “guardian,” serves to preserve the essence of the site’s rich history and establish itself as a place where imaginative work happens. The former school was built in 1950 in North Fulton County and closed in 1967.
